In this workshop you will create a set of unique collage papers using found and recycled objects.
You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of opaque and translucent papers, applying acrylic paint to create a set of papers that can be used in future collage and mixed media projects (including the Explore the Art of Collage workshop on Saturday 5th July 2025).

Explore the Art of Collage
1 DAY WORKSHOP
5th July 2025 (10am - 4pm)
RWA Drawing School Studio, RWA, Bristol BS8 1PX
Collage (the process of arranging and sticking down pieces of paper, photographs, fabric and other ephemera) has had an important place in art for over a century (artists such as Picasso and Matisse used it in their work). The contemporary collage world is a vibrant area of art practice and many artists now use found and handmade collage papers to create stunning artworks.
In this workshop you will have the opportunity to explore the world of collage art and create one or more collages using a range of different papers. Collages can be abstract or realistic. You will discover some of the key materials and processes used in collage art and think about how to create effective collage compositions using opaque and translucent papers.
All key materials are provided. However, you are encouraged to bring some papers along with you. These can be old magazines, books, tissue paper, wrapping paper and other interesting papers. If you have attended the Making Collage Papers with Found and Recycled Objects workshop on 7th June, please feel free to bring along any papers that you made.

Suitable for all abilities.
